How to Deal With Rejection As An Actor

By | May 3, 2021

Stop talking to yourself and start listening.
It’s the other way round really. Some people talk too much and some people listen too little. It’s a talent to listen, right?
The conversation that you’re having with yourself doesn’t help you in any way. You keep torturing yourself, wallowing in self-pity. “But, but, but, I’m not a good enough actor…”
You are good enough, I say! But, there’s a whole world out there, waiting to see what you can do with yourself, they won’t be judging you just because you didn’t get this or that.
You’re not a failure if you didn’t get this job. You aren’t a failure if you didn’t get the role in a film. You are a fucking great actor, a fine actor. But, just because you weren’t chosen, it’s not the end of the world. So what if you didn’t get the part you wanted. It doesn’t mean that you’re a failure as an actor. It means that there is a lot more out there that you haven’t found yet.
Stop talking to yourself and start listening to what people are
